Hi. (Im new to this forum)(sorry for my english)

I wonder if I have an AAT or AEL engine in my Audi 100 94" 2,5tdi avant. It says AAT on the engineblock, so I asume it is an AAT, but here's the thing;
The last owner did an engine swap a while ago. He said the engine was from an A6 and it was the same engine but it was 140hp. I did not put any more thoughts to it then. I just wondering what i really have under the hood now😊 how can i figure it out? Is there a possibility that i have an AAT engine with 115hp stock but with new nozzles and ECU? Same as the AEL? I really dont know.

I am happy for all answers😊
Thanks.

You probably have the A6 AAT engine, fitted with the injection pump from the original engine. As far as I can remember the injection pumps on A6 models were controlled by a slightly higher voltage from the ECU than the 100 models, hence needing to keep the original pump.
The only differences between AAT and AEL AFAIK was larger injector nozzles, an oil cooler and piston oil jets. If you want to go for more power I would research fitting the pump from an AEL A6 automatic. These pumps had the 11mm plungers and are more than enough for a decent gain in torque.

By the way, if you're thinking of buying nozzles my best advice is to stick to Fratelli Bozio ones, and not e Bay cheapos.

Ok. Couse i think it is more than 115hp as it pulls pretty good... Do you know how i can check if it is the original pump or not? Check the voltage or something? And yes, i was thinking of more power😊

I think you'll find that the AEL had forged pistons as well...
